Once upon a time, there was a little girl, with bright eyes and a curious mind, who saw the world and all its beauty with wonderment and joy. She was born in the United States, growing up in a loving and lively family. Her parents, of Indian descent, longed to provide their often-bustling daughter a vibrant experience of her Indian heritage, values, and culture. They wished for her to be sparked with spiritual curiosity and grounded in a community of fellow travelers on a journey toward knowing Self.
That quick story of our daughter led us to the community of Amba Township in Adalaj, Gujarat, designed and built with the inspiration of Dadabhagwan. We quickly realized there was no joy as can be found in living in this profound community. However, we saw a void in a learner-driven education system around her.
As we connected with other families in the community, we heard stories of the struggles many of them faced when it came to their child’s education. Would the current system help our children learn to be cooperative and kind human beings? We all recognized that the world is changing rapidly with Google, social platforms, and the coming rise of artificial intelligence. Would our children develop critical thinking, team collaboration and lifelong learning abilities to genuinely be prepared for the unknown and ever-changing world?
A new, deep calling began to form. Could we do something that enables all those children in the community, that want something beyond traditional education, to have a place? A place where children would be free to learn, think, and grow without limitations of set standards. Where children could thrive and find their unique genius. Where children would develop deep insight, common sense, and an inner faith that they truly can find their calling and change the world!
Acton Academy was a miraculous find!
